The study was carried out to investigate standardized ileal digestibilities of crade protein and amino acids of feedstuffs in 3 consecutive experiments with 12 piglets each. The piglets were fitted with a simple T cannula at the distal ileum at three weeks of age. Each feedstuff was tested in 6 piglets according to a repeated 3x3 Latin square design. The basal diet consisted of corn starch and casein. The test feedstuffs were added to the basal diet to supply approximately 50 % of crude protein and amino acids from the test feedstuff. Amino acid digestibilities were determined based on the assumption that amino acids in casein are 100 % digestible. Standardized amino acid digestibilities were the highest in processed soy proteins compared to soy bean meal or soy beans. Wheat protein, pea protein and fish meal resulted in amino acid digestibilities similar to soy proteins. In contrast to soy beans and soy bean meal, the amino acid digestibilities in the soy proteins were similar to values obtained in grower-finisher pigs.
